The Constellation K

Monochrome + Stripes

July 18, 2017

If you still think stripes are unflattering, I implore you to reconsider. It’s true that stripes can make you appear wider or shorter, but it’s just about finding patterns that work. Stripes can do great harm, but they can also be your best friend, helping to accentuate your curves and elongate your body. What was born as a desperate abroad outfit formed from the need to stay cool but hide the fact that I couldn’t find a razor (lol), this outfit has become a new favorite of mine, incorporating not one, but two striped pieces.

I think this outfit illustrates that thick horizontal stripes, especially when incorporating trendy details like a semi-turtleneck and sheer fabrics, can look edgy and cool without being unflattering. Narrow vertical stripes are great for making you look longer and a cinched waist helps enunciate an hourglass shape. Styled with some trainers and tassel earrings and voila! you got yourself a cute and comfy outfit for almost any occasion. To dress it up, just switch out trainers for a pair of grey sandals or mules.

Earrings: Natalie B.; Sweater: Nasty Gal (super old, find a similar look here)
